Search & Add
Finding items
Tap the "+" button from any screen to search for books, movies, and TV shows by title. TANA searches TMDB (for movies and TV) and Google Books simultaneously, showing results with cover art thumbnails.
Category filters
Use the filter pills above the search results to narrow by category — All, Books, Movies, or TV. This helps when a title appears across multiple media types.
Verified badge
Items added from search results show a small checkmark badge, meaning the metadata (title, cover art, year) was matched to a real database entry.
Manual entry
If your title doesn't appear in search results, you can add it manually. Manual entry options appear below the search results once you've typed at least 2 characters. Choose whether it's a book, movie, or TV show.
Already finished
When adding a new item, toggle "Already finished" to send it directly to your Shelf. You can set the finish date and rating right away — perfect for logging books you read last year or movies you saw recently.
Editing and deleting
Tap any item to edit its title, re-search to update metadata, or adjust the start date. To delete, tap the delete button twice to confirm — the confirmation shows how many progress entries would be lost.
